Bartolomeu Dias Museum

Named after the first European who ever sailed around the southernmost tip of Africa, the “Bartolomeu Dias Museum” in Mossel Bay, South Africa, is all about the portoguese sailer and the cultural influence he brought to the region.

The museum houses a replica of Dias’ caravel from 1487, which you can inspect from the inside. Beside the historical figure of Dias, the museum also contains the biggest shell-collection of South Africa and an aquarium.
